Overview of Testing & Evaluations...
The Pat and Don Williamson Evaluation Center at The Learning Center of North Texas provides comprehensive diagnostic educational evaluations for children ages 4-18, college students, and adults.
An evaluation yields a profile of learning strengths and weaknesses and gives insight into an individual’s approach to learning, problem solving, and working. This valuable self knowledge can make the difference between success and failure, whether in school or on the job. All evaluation instruments are widely used and parallel the instruments used in the public schools. The findings are interpreted according to the most current standards of the reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act in 2004 and Texas State Board of Education Rules for Special Education Services. Reading difficulties are interpreted in light of The Dyslexia Handbook published by the Texas Education Agency. In addition, a Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV) diagnosis is available when appropriate.
